Questions
What people ask us first
Do I need an eye exam if I see fine?
Many eye conditions cause no change in how you see at first, so a regular exam checks more than your vision. Your doctor tells you how often is right for you.
How often should I have an exam?
Many adults come every year or two. Your doctor tells you at the end of each visit, and we can send a reminder when it is time.
Do you work with my vision plan?
We work with many vision plans. Call to confirm yours, and we will check your benefits before your visit where we can.
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
A routine exam goes to a vision plan. A visit about an eye problem or a follow-up goes to medical insurance. We explain which is which before you pay anything.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours, and you can fill it at any shop or website you like.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. Once your exam and fitting are done, you get your contact lens prescription the same way as your glasses prescription.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring the glasses you wear now, any contact lenses and cases, your plan cards and a list of your medicines.
How much will it cost?
It depends on your plan and on what you choose. How fees work explains who pays for what, and we write down the cost of eyewear before you order.
What is a try-on day?
A day when we put out more frames than usual and you can drop in to try them. You can book a fitting if one feels right.
Can you repair glasses I bought somewhere else?
We can usually adjust them and replace small parts. If we cannot repair something, we will tell you before we start.
What should I do in an eye emergency?
Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
